VALE HEAD PARK

Vale Head Park opened on 19th March, 1932, and cost £13,000 to make.
Grants were received from the Miners' Welfare Fund, and the Government.
To commemorate the Festival of Britain four new Tennis Courts were constructed at a cost of £1,400. and opened on 2nd June 1951.
The Friends meeting will be on Wednesday 3rd September, 2008, in the Windsurfer Conference Room, Hemsworth Water Park, at 6.30pm. There will ne no meeting
in March.
Everyone WELCOME...... We need your views on the Park...
Wakefield. M. D. C. are to make a bid for Lottery Funding
to improve the Park, and would like to have any
suggestions from local residents as to what alteration need
to be done to improve the facilities.
The 'Friends of Vale Head Park' were successful in their bid for money to renew the Rose Beds, and are grateful to the Co-operative Dividend Fund for their contribution.
The roses are planted opposite the pavilion.
The Friends of the Park have received the following text which was originally on a bronze
plate attached to the stone below, from Mr. F. Madin, of South Elmsall
